Jaci - Moon’s Godness Legend - northern region. Legend has it that Jaci is the goddess of the moon, lovers and reproduction in Tupi-Guarani mythology. Its name comes from the Tupi word Jaci, which means “Fruits’s Mother. According to legend, it was created by Tupã, the great creator and god of thunder and lightning. Tupa created Jaci to be the Queen of the Night and bring gentleness and fear to men. Later, Tupã was caught by her charm, and eventually fell in love with her. Another version Jaci was wandering through the Amazon rainforest when he saw Guaraci. He was a handsome warrior with fiery eyes, golden skin, and radiant energy. Guaraci watched Jaci and fell in love with her silver beauty and shyness. As they declared their love for each other, Guaraci began to burn with such passion that he realized he was endangering the earth. At the same time, Jaci was so overwhelmed with love that she began to cry tears of happiness that almost flooded the earth. Unable to control their emotions, Jaci and Guaraci decided that would be too dangerous for them to be together. Reluctantly, they agreed never to meet at the same place again. Guaraci soon forgot Jaci, who made sure never to appear before Guaraci sleeps. However, Jaci was so heartbroken that she cried every night. Her tears streamed down the leaves of the trees, puddling the forest floor and down the mountains, thus creating the great Amazon River.
