Nettie Lodge 0410078754 www.annettelodge.com https://www.facebook.com/nettie.lodge.artist Nettie Lodge was born in Nowra, NSW, Australia. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art at John Curtain University, WA. She did a Post Graduate in painting at the Banff Centre of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada for which she was awarded an Overseas Study Grant from the West Australian Arts Council. She exhibits regularly at the Soho Galleries in Sydney where she has held numerous solo shows since 1995. Her most recent solo exhibition was in November 2015, entitled 53 DEGREES SOUTH, based on a recent voyage to the Sub Antarctic Islands. For the past 15 years she has been writing and illustrating children’s books. In 2005, her children’s picture book BIRD, published by ABC Books won a NOTABLE BOOK MERIT at the Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards. Her most recent children’s book is entitled KINDY KITCHEN, written by Jessica Rossman, which she has illustrated, published by Harper Collins. In November 2015. For the past 15 years she has worked in Sydney as a freelance illustrator and a part time lecturer at the Billy Blue College of Visual Communication, Torrens University. Her ongoing project is the production of an exhibition based on her interpretation of the poem THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER which will incorporate paintings, 3D narrative sculpture and the published picture book and illustrations, to be exhibited at the Manly Art Gallery, Sydney in December 2017.
