About The Artist

I discovered digital photography in 2002. Perfectionist, I endeavor to correct my first shots, but quikly I began to create new images. Operating mainly by overlapping, fusion and masking layers, adjustments of all kinds, my way of proceeding is reminiscent of traditional painting technique, but the difference is significant. Digital media can be worked at leisure on all strata, although the underlyings, indefinetely. Improvisation and intuition, at the heart of my creative process, battle side by side, interacting with the machine. Variations arise, collide, trying to outdo each other. By the phenomenon of recurrence, signs acquire the status symbols, and some series find their meaning in the confrontation of the works themselves. Considering all the works produced, a shift to abstraction emerges clearly, but for me, abstraction is neither a search nor a goal: it is necessary just for itself as a gateway towards the imaginary, offering the freedom to see or not to see. My inspiration is very personal, leaving the spotlight to the inconscious. Strangely, the place is vacant for other interpretations. My pleasure is in experimentation. In parallel I conduct research in video and music. To learn more, please visit my website : www.beatrice-carre.fr
