About The Artist

Larry Lefner reinforces the notion of the ‘artistic visionary’ in his unique styles of crafting wood. His artwork continually evolves. He has no niche. (He graduated in eastern philosophy!) He strives to stay ahead of those who would define him or his style of sculpture. He contributes an incredibly versatile range of woodworking; a range encompassing nature themes and intriguing characters from fine art to architectural designs. Many residents of Sun Valley, Santa Fe, and Aspen have collected his artwork in the forty plus years he has been a professional sculptor. His most notable accomplishments are the nature scenes carved into the walls and beam ends of the Elk Mountain Lodge, the Fly Fisherman Living Tree Sculpture, public art commissioned by the town of Basalt, and “Hummingbird Haven” private commission tree sculpture in Montecito, CA. Larry has developed his own unique style of sculpture that we term ‘Mosaic Sculpture’. It is a composition of sculpted wood using many different kinds of colorful hardwoods. These creations are amazing to view. As if he paints with the wood sculpture; each color is a different natural wood. This self taught and original technique makes him a one of kind artist in the world of wood. Currently his artwork is represented in the galleries ‘Enchanted Mesa Art Gallery’ in Cedaredge, CO., and the ‘True West’ gallery in Santa Fe, N.M. He is available by appointment and welcomes commissions of fine art, mantles, doors and yes, trees, for custom sculpture and architecture. www.lefnerart.com 970.379.8636
