Cell Action 16 is a mixed-media painting made with cured Polyresin Foam covered in archival UV light spray. A layer of Utrecht Gesso is applied over the entire surface. Utrecht hansa yellow and phthalo blue acrylic paint is then applied over the entire gallery-wrapped canvas. The painting represents the cellular activity going on in our bodies as lines of DNA helixes are formed to make various types of living structures. The colors I choose are those based on the 23 stains used in microbiology and the 10 stains used in biochemistry for visualizing DNA. Staining is a technique used to enhance contrast in microscopic or chemistry samples. Dimensions are 24inch wide by 36 inch high. Price:$ 4320
