About The Artist

My work is about making the imaginary real. Putting ideas down on paper or canvas is like giving birth to a being never seen before. I play with perspective, light and personal archetypes. The mixture of oil and wax creates body and texture to my paint. I use palette knives to layer the paint so I can incise lines and layer color. I love the "accidental" quality that this layering produces. My images wrap around the sides of the painting to underscore the physical reality of each piece which plays off the illusion set up by the perspectives and light emanating from mysterious sources. My work is inclusive. I would like to paint anything I can think of and have it all live harmoniously in one place. In a recent series, I use a lightened palette reflecting the sunburnt colors I experience after living in Florida eighteen years. In my most recent work, I use multiple images to tell a story. Forty years of living in New York, travels and other life experiences also inform my work.
