Sleeping Beauty in the Urban Guerrilla
0.0 x 0.0
I reworked scenes from the riots of Rome several years ago, combining them with those of the assault on anti - Gelmini students by right - wing extremists and various riots carried out by Black - Block. The background is set on a montage of my photographs, taken in the center of Montreal, on which I have applied various words and phrases. In the foreground, a slumbering girl, with a chip on her forehead, a parody of the third eye of the illuminati, wants to ignore the total chaos that surrounds her, which she disdains. A young man, who recalls "Er Pelliccia", is launching a fire extinguisher towards Sleeping Beauty, to wake her up from her disinterest but seems to only want to hit the agents, in riot gear, behind the woman. Like Superheroes for sale, most cops and troublemakers are marked with barcodes. Everything happens under a sky littered with helicopters of the police, who intervened to quell the revolt.
