Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is the oldest bridge across the Vltava River in the Czech capital, Prague. The bridge was built on the orders of King and Emperor Charles IV, and the first architect and builder was the famous architect Peter Parlerge. This magnificent architect also built a bridge tower on the right bank of the Vltava River from the side of Prague's Old Town and decorated it with his sculptural works. This tower, together with the bridge and two bridge towers on the left bank of the river, form an ensemble of Gothic architecture of exceptional beauty.
