Sobre el Artista

Kathleen was born in Wisconsin and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Florence, Italy. In her twenties, she settled in the beautiful Skagit Valley farmland north of Seattle. Her large acrylic on canvas paintings are inspired by her awareness of the incredible life in the natural world that surrounds her using color as her primary vehicle for this expression. Whether painting a simple dandelion or the light on the horizon at dusk, her goal is the same, to convey the essence of this feeling through color and form. She believes that any art, a painting, a poem or a great performance, has the power to connect us with our higher selves and all that is. “There is so much poetry in the natural world. This is where I find inspiration. On my walk this morning a carpet of maple leaves, the ever-changing sky, a woodpecker drumming away for food. What an honor to be alive, I want to make the most of it and express my gratitude for all this beauty.” The most recent paintings in her landscape series are filled with layers, drips and scrapes giving a sense of time, process, and history. Her work is in many public and private collections as well as licensed with Pottery Barn and Wendover Fine Art.
