About The Artist
Born in 1970, Delhi, Priyadarshi Gautam is a self-taught artist painting impressionistically, mainly in oils, inspired by Mother Nature. He earned a Law degree from Delhi University and yet decided to dedicate his life to art. His aim is to promote humanity’s connection to its natural environment so that people stop neglecting Nature in pursuit of narrow worldly pursuits.
Priyadarshi has shown his work in solo art exhibitions, group shows and participated in National Art Exhibitions organized by All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS), Lalit Kala Academy and Camlin (New Delhi). Priyadarshi’s works have been hailed by important media outlets, including The Times of India, The Statesman, Millennium Post, The Pioneer, Hindustan Times, Navbharat Time and Nai Duniya. His works are part of many private collections abroad and in India, including H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa.
Selected Honors : In 2010, for his painting White Veil, Priyadarshi was awarded the JEDIKA Fine Arts Award for Excellence in Landscape Painting at RedBubble.com, a prominent art site. Priyadarshi’s works have also been on auction for the Environmental Charity via Christie’s, the most prestigious international purveyor of fine art in 2010. Highly individualistic, Priyadarshi’s works show considerable maturity, artistically as well as technically. His compositions, luminous landscapes of carefully layered color schemes, give us sublime spectacle and wide breadth. Being an avid traveler of the Himalayan region, he provides interpretations by way of authentic contact with the Earth.
Priyadarshi is also a poet, his first Hindi compilation being Teen Samvednayein was published in 2010.
He lives and works in Delhi.
