About The Artist
My name is Petr Borovec. I was born in 1966 in the City of Ostrava, in former Czechoslovakia.
ABOUT ME
The first time I looked into the viewer of my father’s camera I was just a child. I spent long hours in the darkroom with him, learning to process black and white films and to make darkroom prints. Later when I was older, I bought my first SLR camera a Soviet Zenit TTL.
I returned to photography after my compulsory military service shortly before 1989. Influenced by the work of many famous Czech photographers, especially Josef Sudek,I became more and more interested in creative photography. When I returned to photography for the second time around the year 2000, I tragically lost all of my negatives and data on the disk.
And finally I picked up my camera again in 2016. This time aiming for analogue and minimalism.
I recently realized that I was looking for ideas in a similar way Josef Koudelka does. I take the camera, I go out and look for where the photo is waiting for me. And if I find it, then I'll try to capture it. Of course, I won’t always manage to do that. Sometimes I know that "it" is somewhere waiting for me, but I can’t capture it in a way that I can be happy with the result.
I love those moments. It’s like when the receiver tunes to the correct frequency and establishes the link.
