The city was surrounded by the Turks, but the Moldovan soldiers defended the fort so valiantly, that the Turks had lost all hope of winning. Legend has it that a young man betrayed the city, because he loved the girl (Merioara), but the girl was the bride of Moldovan soldiers. On the night of betrayal, the sky turned black.
