About The Artist
Lisa DeLoria Weinblatt, a native New Yorker, received her M.F.A. at the School of Visual Arts, NYC. She earned her B.A., Magna Cum Laude, Art Department Honors, at Queens College/CUNY. Lisa Has been awarded six national Artist-In-Residence Scholarships and received a New York City Artist Corp Grant, September, 2021. She is also the recipient of NYC Public Arts Grants through the Lower Manhattan Cultural council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Weinblatt’s painting series SCHOOL LUNCH has been exhibited in over 30 solo exhibitions, including the NYC Armory Show , Pier 92/94,2018 with solo exhibitions at Waterworks Art Center/ Museum, NC, Karpeles Museum, NY, Morris Graves Museum, CA, Oxford Art Center, PA Delaplaine Art Center, MD, Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, PA, and The Judy Black Memorial Gallery /Gardens, CT. Lisa’s recent solo exhibitions include Central Piedmont College, Charlotte, NC, 1/10-12/15/22, Chesapeake art Center, MD 12/15/22 – 2/15/23, and upcoming Oxford Art Center, PA, 9/2023 and Googleworks Art Center, Reading, PA, 10/11/ 2023. This year Lisa’s paintings were exhibited in the Monmouth Museum, NJ, 1/3/23 ,Times Square, NYC, 6/’23, the Arnot Art Museum, NY, 7-9/2023. SCHOOL LUNCH 4 was awarded ‘Best In Show’ from Claire Davies, Assistant Curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, Flinn Gallery, Greenwich, CT.
Lisa has been awarded the Grumbacher Gold Medal for Painting. The Nabisco Corporation Gallery, NJ has twice featured SCHOOL LUNCH, both on the announcements for and in exhibition of ‘Faces of America: Celebrating Diversity & Multi-Culturalism for Black History Month”.

Weinblatt exhibited selections from the SCHOOL LUNCH series in the MvVO Art Show, on the Westfield Screen, in the Oculus, World Trade Center, NYC, May,2022. Lisa was the ChaSHaMa arts organization Gala Portrait Artist, June 8th &10th, 2023 in NYC.
In July, 2023 selections from SCHOOL LUNCH will be digitally displayed on a billboard in Times Square, NYC.

SCHOOL LUNCH is a visual essay of contemporary student life, created by drawing, on-site, in actual educational settings. Students’ emotional attitudes are explored in the shared experience of school lunch. SCHOOL LUNCH underlines perceptions which affirm cultural identity, brings together ideas espousing societal concerns and encourages a belief in the quality of human spirit
