Dragonfly Delight

16.0 x 14.0 inches

I read that the life cycle of a dragonfly consists of three stages: the egg, the nymph, and the adult. Dragonflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis. The nymph stage can last up to five years in large species and between two months and three years in smaller species. When the nymph is ready to become an adult, it stops feeding, emerges from the water, and undergoes a process where it sheds its exoskeleton to become a fully formed adult dragonfly. When we are lucky enough to see a dragonfly pass our pathway, we are witnessing a beautiful creature and one who has come a long way to grace us with their beauty.
