About The Artist


Olga Lora was born in Cali, Colombia in 1957. She has a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering from Universidad del Valle in her home country. Ms. Lora has always been passionate about a better environment and the improvement of life quality, both principles she championed while working in her native city. She is a relentless admirer of beauty, nature and the enchantment that vivid colors bring to her life especially in her childhood and youth. Those feelings woke-up in her an interest for art as a way to express what she was witnessing with her eyes. Olga arrived in New York City in 1999, married and decided to change her life as an engineer to that of an artist. Since then she has, with the unconditional support of her husband, dedicated her time to study oil painting. First at The Art Students League of New York where she had several instructors, but spend most of her five-years term under the guidance of Lea trice Rose, from whom she received knowledge, liberty and the necessary support to developed in her learning process to become an artist. In Ms. Rose’s Class Annual Exhibition of 2000 Olga was awarded with a “Blue Dot” - a League’s own award for excellence - in recognition to her outstanding work. Ms. Lora switched coasts in 2004 and settle in Marina del Rey, Los Angeles to paint under the tutorship of California-based artist Martin Lubner at his Venice studio. Come summer of 2005 she moved back East, this time to Atlanta, where she opened her own studio in her home in Alpharetta. During her time in Georgia Olga became involved in the local arts and cultural scene through her relationship with Heaven Blue Rose Gallery of Roswell. She currently resides San Antonio, Texas, where after a self-imposed four-year hiatus to learn the art of bookmaking and the nuances of publishing Olga is back at work in her art studio; unleashing all her creativity, passion and love for her craft.
