Artist Bio: Nikoloz Meskhishvili

Nikoloz Meskhishvili is a Georgian artist and educator whose work bridges cultural heritage with contemporary expression. Driven by a lifelong commitment to both art and education, Meskhishvili delves into the boundless possibilities of creative expression, fostering a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Growing up in Tbilisi, he was immersed in Georgia’s cultural landscape - attending theater performances with family and studying music from a young age. His passion for music led him to perform Georgian polyphonic songs with the esteemed folk group "Martve," deepening his connection to his cultural roots and shaping an artistic style that unites music, culture, and visual art.

Meskhishvili’s early experiences with visual art provided a personal refuge and grew into a deeper pursuit as he studied International Foreign Business, with a focus on marketing, advertising, and web design. A year-long program in London broadened his expertise in digital art, igniting a lasting fascination with the intersection of color, design, and digital media. This commitment to creative and adaptive learning continued at Cambridge International College, where distance learning encouraged his unique approach to education.

His academic interests also intertwined with art and science, notably through a digital mapping presentation that showcased ecological issues affecting the Black Sea. His work was recognized at regional and national scientific conferences, highlighting his dedication to integrating educational and scientific illustration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

During his Double Master’s studies in International Service Management in the Netherlands and UK, Meskhishvili explored "Branding and Theming as a Marketing Medium to Enhance Visitor Experiences" and conducted a visual ethnography on Texel Island, examining dark tourism, history, and photography at a Georgian soldiers' cemetery. Drawing on mythological themes in Salvador Dalí’s surrealism and Herbert James Draper’s works, he infused his thesis with visual elements that reflect cultural memory and symbolism. This period was also pivotal as he sold his first painting on King’s Day, marking a defining moment in his commitment to painting as a career.

A passionate traveler, Meskhishvili draws inspiration from the cultures of 37 countries, with museum visits and historical art collections adding new dimensions to his perspective. He has refined his skills at the Soselia Art Studio and completed a second Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. His works have been featured in over 30 international exhibitions across Dubai, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and the USA. His recognition includes accolades, such as first place in an art contest leading to his participation in the Tokyo Art Exhibition, along with the International Prize Phenix for Arts from Florence and the Leonardo da Vinci International Prize from Milan.

Today, Meskhishvili dedicates his life to both art and education. Alongside his artistic pursuits, he serves as the Official Delegate of WorldSkills Georgia and heads the Vocational Education Department at the Georgian Farmers Association. Through his work, he continues to bridge cultural heritage with contemporary expression, inviting audiences worldwide into an evolving dialogue shaped by art’s transformative power.
