About The Artist
A carver of Chesapeake Bay decoys for more than 20 years, Naples resident Peter Sottong has now turned his attention to creating contemporary metal clad wood sculptures. Once the design is developed for the wood core art, they are formed, fabricated and assembled. Multiple layers of ground bronze, silver, pewter, iron, brass or copper are applied. Finally, patinas and other finishes are added to create one-of-a-kind images. These fine art pieces can be used in exterior locations, i.e., lanais, boats and bath areas as well as interior walls of a home.
Peter holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland and is the founder of a medical diagnostic firm in the Washington, D.C. area. He currently works part-time at the Marco Island YMCA, is married and has three sons and three grandchildren.
