Stoneware Ceramic, 9”w. x 10”h. x 9”d., 2005 This is a portrait of my granddaughter Clara Luz Ortega at the age of five. I was trying to capture the spirit of her as a child. I joke with people that I grew up and decided I did not like being an adult so I became a child again. When I am creating I am seeing again as if I were a child and I try to capture this playfulness in my work.
