About The Artist

I'm Barbara van den Berg, a mixed media artist in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I have always been fascinated by human behavior and the absurdity of our existence. My artworks are a combination of photos, paint and magazines, this creates a new image that embodies the diversity and complexity of humanity. In 2003 I graduated from the High School for Art and Design in Den Bosch, Sint Joost, direction Visual Communication. After my studies, I founded Studio Beet, a graphic design, concept and illustration agency. After working as an illustrator and graphic designer for 7 years, I focused entirely on the visual arts. I live and work in Amsterdam. I have made several series since 2015, including 'Look at me', 'Behind the seen', 'Under my skin' and 'Cry if you want to' (The 'Cry if you want to' series is inspired by the paintings of howling folk boys and the world leaders of today). And a large mixed media artwork "Last apples", a landscape of people in which the craziness of this time and my world come together. Several years I was represented by The Public House of Art, they went to many art fairs all over the world. Since 2018 I have a new agent SRK and am looking for new ways to exhibit my art.
