About The Artist
I have over 40 years of professional and creative photographic and graphic design experience. Growing up in Bayside, Queens, New York, I became interested in photography at an early age, thanks to my father and uncle, who were very talented amateur photographers.
After graduating from high school, I studied first at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, earning a AAS degree in Fashion Photography, then later at the Rochester Institute of Technology where I earned my BFA in Photographic Illustration.
I’ve worked on staff and/or contract for Prudential Insurance, Lockheed Martin, and E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, as well as ran my own photography and graphic design business for 10 years in Wilmington, Delaware. At Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, D.C., I was part of their marketing group, involved with both producing high quality graphic design work and handling the occasional photography assignment for the firm. More recently, I joined the Strategic Marketing Group at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as staff photographer on a part-time contract basis.
My photographic work includes a wide range of corporate and editorial location and studio assignments. In recent years, urban and rural landscapes, nature and people have been my favorite subjects. While the majority of my work has been done in the northeastern United States, I’ve also traveled to other parts of the U.S., across the border to Canada, The Bahamas, and overseas to the U.K., Ireland and Italy.
I also have experience in the area of graphic design and desktop publishing, having handled many assignments ranging from graphics to illustrate presentations and both print and Web-based publications, logos and corporate identities and the creation of both speaker-support and self-running “kiosk” PowerPoint presentations, and Web-based HTML and Flash slideshows.
My work has been published in the original edition of the Time-Life Photography Library, annual reports of DuPont and American Express Credit Company, and Akin Gump’s 2010 and 2011 Annual Reviews. My photos have also appeared in various other print and on-line publications. I’ve also had my work exhibited in one-man and group shows in New York City, Trenton, NJ, in recent years at the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Laurel, Maryland, and several venues in Washington, D.C.
In 2008, I started to publish books of my photos on Blurb.com. My latest book, Martha’s Vineyard – In Photos is a collection of photos taken on a recent trip to the island. Other books produced include Cherry Blossoms – A Photographic Poem published in May 2012 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the planting of the cherry trees in Washington, D.C., and the last book in my “Seneca” series (my ongoing documentation of Little Seneca Lake, Lake Churchill and the surrounding area near Germantown, Maryland), Seneca Summer was published in October 2012.
I am now in the process of expanding my print book sales to Amazon.com. Currently, only Cherry Blossoms – A Photographic Poem can be purchased there. I hope to have more titles available for purchase on Amazon in the near future.
