About The Artist


Ken Macklin was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1952. Macklin earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 1978 and studied advanced sculpture at St. Martins School of Art in London, England in 1979. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, notably at the Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, New Jersey, U.S.A, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Marbella, Spain and the Salon National Des Beaux Arts, Le Louvre, Paris, France. He has attended numerous international artist workshops including the Emma Lake Artists' Workshop; the Triangle workshop in its inaugural year at Mashomack, New York and again as group leader in 1986; the Triangle Workshop in Barcelona, Spain in 1987; and the Phillip and Muriel Berman Sculpture Workshop in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1993. In 1994-95 Macklin studied Mayan art and architecture in Central America and the Yucatan. Macklin is renowned for the creation of both large scale abstract sculptures and smaller, intimate, abstract sculptures.
