About The Artist

“Fly without wings; Dream with open eyes; See in darkness” ~Dean Stojanovic My work centers on memory, dreams and personal history coupled with a love of the quiet elegance found in nature: it's poetic form, perfect symmetry, color that speaks and endless mystery. From my earliest days photographing in 1979, I felt the need to refine the original ‘drawing with light’ by adding something of my own to what I saw through my lens, often giving the final image a surreal quality. For many years, I did this by hand coloring my b&w silver prints and largely showed this work. I wear leg braces due to an injury which limits how long I can walk. A telephoto gives me the ability to walk with my lens. One can imagine my excitement when I was exposed to the apps developed through mobile photography. Here I was afforded a whole pallet, a whole new set of tools for image making. My current work is made by photographing with a DSLR and then importing the image into my iPad and MacBook for interpretation.
