About The Artist

KARI HANSEN VON SECK THE ART Kari Hansen von Seck's works focus on portraits as well as stylized urban and nature motifs. Through their intense colors, diverse materials and techniques, her works playfully overcome the boundaries of figuration and abstraction. She doesn't follow any conventions: Everything is allowed! Hansen von Seck's works grow layer by layer, the old becomes the new, the beautiful remains – the rest she stages in a new way. Whether with a brush or a spatula, with your fingers or your hands, a sponge or a painting knife. Her works are characterized by hard contours, intense colors and depth. They show moving snapshots, even though they stand still. THE ARTIST The german-Norwegian artist Kari Hansen von Seck was born in 1961 in Bitburg (near Prüm), Germany. She lives and works in Wiesbaden. Her aunt, the famous Norwegian painter and sculptor Nelly Hansen, inspired her in her youth. Painting quickly became a passion. Her works are much more than depictions of different people or landscapes. Hansen von Seck creates stories in faces and moments by starting with a photo. In this way, she succeeds in capturing the character of a person, the magic and emotions of a moment. In her works, she plays with our perception. Drawing meets graphic pattern, expressionist play of colors meets materials such as fabric or paper.. Her pictures convince with hard contours, intense colors, depth and an extremely perfect execution. Hansen von Seck shows more than people or a scene: she captures the soul of the moment with her nuanced playing. She exhibits her works in numerous cities in different countries.
