About The Artist

MY WORK BASICALLY IS FORMED BY PAINTINGS DIPICTING THE CUSTOMS AND FOLKLORE OF THE MEXICAN COUNTRYSIDE. I JUST HEAR THE MUSIC OF THE TOWN´S BAND OR SEE THE MARVELLOUS PROCESSION PASS BY AND THEN I´M INSPIRED TO BEGIN MY NEXT PAINTING. IT COULD BE A WEDDING OR A FUNERAL, OR JUST THE USUAL PROCESSION IN CELEBRATION OF THAT PARTICULAR COMMUNITY WHICH TAKES PLACE EACH YEAR--COMPLETE WITH BALOONS, FLOWERS, CANDLES, AND FLAGS MADE OUT OF CUT PAPER DESIGNS. OF COURSE IT WOULDN´T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT THE MUSIC AND THE PATRON SAINT WITH ALL THE TOWNSPEOPLE JOINING IN THE MARCH. THE CELEBRATION OF "THE DAY OF THE DEAD" AT THE LOCAL CEMETERY, OR THE WONDERFUL COLOR AND ACTIVITY THAT YOU FIND IN THE MARKETPLACES, OR JUST A SIMPLE DAY AT THE PUBLIC WASHBASINS WHERE THE WOMEN DO THEIR LAUNDRY AND CATCH UP ON THE DAILY GOSSIP. ALL THIS INSPIRES ME IN MY WORK IN DIFFERENT STATES OF THE MEXICAN REPUBLIC WITH THEIR PROUD INHABITANTS WHO HAVEN´T FORGOTTEN THEIR ANCESTORS ROOTS DESPITE THE MODERNAZATION..
