LOOKING AHEAD: WOMEN TO WATCH 2025 A collection of work showcasing six women artists on the rise Curated by Mary Finlayson in collaboration with JoAnne Artman Gallery JoAnne Artman Gallery is pleased to present LOOKING AHEAD: WOMEN TO WATCH 2025, a dynamic group exhibition showcasing women artists on the rise. Curated by gallery artist Mary Finlayson, the exhibition incorporates nature, organic shapes, bold textures, and deconstructed patterns to develop cohesive narratives across mediums. LOOKING AHEAD: WOMEN TO WATCH 2025 will be featuring significant works by six incredible female artists: Fernanda Martinez, Mary Finlayson, Meghan Shimek, Rebecca Kaufman, Sofia Shu, and Carmen McNall. The featured artists all share a strong connection to the San Francisco Bay Area. Their personal works reflect the intimate contexts driving their creative passions, as well as the global scope of their individual practices. While these artists are comfortable with their ties to the Bay Area, either as a place of birth or a space of cultural significance and connection, their work initiates a dialogue surrounding interpersonal relationships, environments, and what ultimately ties us to our communities. Through their diverse styles and mediums, these artists reflect innovative spirit and cultural richness, making for a celebration of both individual talent and collective creativity. These artists’ work will inspire, provoke, engage and mesmerize. With visual perceptions always changing, peek behind the stories told and you're sure to find the right artistic expression.

Inspired by the long-running Broadway musical Wicked, and its famous song, Popular, the show examines contemporary society through the lens of Pop Art. Touching on notions of conformity, beauty, popularity, and the current cultural landscape, Miller, Matos, and Callas challenge convention through their inclusion and disjunction of pop-culture and advertising.

Offering a unique interactive platform that will replicate the art fair experience, MIAMI ART CITY allows for the discovery and purchasing of contemporary works. Over his 45 year career, CRASH’s work has engaged with environments on a huge scale - ranging from his early murals on the sides of NYC subway trains in the 70’s to commissions at the Bowery Wall and Miami’s Hard Rock Football Stadium. Barely contained to the planes of his work surfaces, CRASH incorporates dark outlines, bright colors, and figurative elements, bridging the divides between street art, public art, and gallery space.

Exploring the identity of both her namesake and country, LA-based America Martin draws inspiration from her Colombian heritage and the human figure to represent a diverse portrayal of what and who America is. With resounding vulnerability, Martin showcases a reflection of self and of country while simultaneously addressing her individualism and nationality. Refusing to universalize the American dream or experience, she instead meditates on the importance of individual narration and on her own ability to navigate these ideas through artistic outlet.
