About The Artist


Matthew McVeigh is a Western Australian visual artist, set designer and community development worker with a multidisciplinary practice known for exploring the interconnectedness and tension of his environment, land and landscape. He creates work that is unapologetic, bold and layered with meaning and nuance.He works predominately with the mediums of sculpture, drawing and painting. His works are constructions from both a conceptual and theoretical standpoint, as well as the language of the physical making and material of work. Matthew has been commissioned by Woodside Petroleum, the City of Swan and the Town of Vincent, was the overall winner of the City of Fremantle’s 2013 25 Under 25 Awards and has artworks in various private collections including the Holmes à Court Collection and Keizo Ushio Collection.
