About The Artist

Charlotte Szynskie, a native of Salida, Colorado, currently calls Denver her home, where her personal studio is a haven for her artistic endeavors. From a young age, Charlotte displayed a fondness for artistic pursuits, dedicating herself to every available art class in middle and high school. However, her academic journey led her towards engineering in college, and she thrived in a distinguished 33-year career in electrical engineering, including 28 years as the owner of a successful consulting firm. In 2011, upon retirement, she allowed herself to explore her latent passion for sculpture.

Embarking on a three-year study at the Art Student League of Denver, Charlotte delved into the world of sculpting under the guidance of several master sculptors. What began as a post-retirement pursuit swiftly evolved into a deep love for the art form. Charlotte's dedication and rapid development in sculpting have drawn comparisons to seasoned masters in the field.

Her sculptural prowess has earned recognition, with her works finding a place in prestigious venues such as the Amsterdam-Whitney Gallery in New York, New York, and various juried exhibitions. Notably, she received the Best in Show award in 2022 at the Loveland Library Galleria. Additionally, private collectors have commissioned multiple pieces, attesting to the profound impact of her creations.

Charlotte's in-depth study of human anatomy has equipped her with the knowledge needed to craft realistic human figures. She possesses a unique ability to capture a model's strong likeness, particularly in life-size portraiture. Freezing gravity-defying moments or fluid motions of the human body exemplify her artistic vision.

The transition from engineer to artist has been a source of immense joy and expansion for Charlotte, embracing a dual-hemisphere brain approach to life. Reflecting on her artistic journey, she acknowledges the challenges of learning high-level figurative sculpture, contrasting the absence of formulas in art with the structured nature of engineering. For Charlotte, sculpting is a magical process that elicits chills and smiles when a chunk of clay seemingly transforms into a living, breathing person. Her passion for sculpture is evident in every piece she creates, capturing the beauty, strength, fluidity, and emotion of the human form.
