About The Artist
I grew up in New York and I draw my inspiration from the city's urban landscape, choosing that as my primary subject matter. Most of my cityscapes are done in studio, but I do preliminary studies on site because it is important to me to have had some firsthand experience of my subject. I try to convey the wonder and awe of living in a city this grand, and on the flipside, the sense of anonymity and aloneness one sometimes feels here as well. I have observed many of the transformations the city has undergone over the decades. Therefore, memory often informs my work, imbuing it with an element of nostalgia.
I have studied at several atelier schools, including the Art Students League, NYC. Additionally, I have a bachelor's degree from NYU----where I majored in philosophy.
