REFLECTIONS
90.0 x 90.0 cm
Beneath the scorching sun, we stood in line, With hope as fragile as the morning shines. Our voices carried dreams we long suppressed, Yet folly whispered choices we’d confess. The ballots bore the weight of a nation’s fate, But fleeting promises swayed hearts of late. The chants of change were drowned by silver's glow, And now we reap the seeds we chose to sow. The streets are barren; hunger calls our name, While leaders bask in wealth, untouched by shame. Our currency crumbles, our spirits are worn, Regret’s heavy cloak is bitterly borne. Had we but chosen with wisdom's steady hand, A just leader to heal this wounded land, The fields would bloom, and dreams would rise anew, A brighter dawn in skies of vibrant hue. But now we kneel beneath an unjust reign, The price of greed etched deep in our pain. Our children’s eyes ask questions we evade, Their futures sold for comforts we betrayed. Oh, if time would grant us a second breath, To cast our votes and steer away from death! For now, we wait, endure this bitter plight, And pray for wisdom to reclaim the light.
