HAD I KNOWN

LOOK AND LAUGH In the echoes of the distant past, Where shadows of the great ones cast, Fela, in realms where spirits dance, Saw the world in a fleeting glance. A young boy's tears on cobbled street, Corn on his head, a fate replete. Behind him cries of fuel and strife, Labour’s burden, a heavy life. Fela sang of visions clear, Of a land that’s lost, not near. In rhythms deep and lyrics bold, He foresaw stories yet untold. His saxophone, a seer’s breath, Foretold the future’s heavy heft. Now, in realms where laughter reigns, He watches, smiling through the chains. The fuel lines stretch like endless trails, Youthful hopes in desperate sails. In laughter’s realm, Fela sees it all, A cosmic jest, a grandiose call. To the boy who cries for more than corn, In this life, his soul forlorn, Fela laughs, a cosmic jest, From beyond, he sees the test. He sang of truths that time would bare, Of the struggles, joys, and flare. In his laugh, a truth is found, In the silence, a knowing sound. Oh, Fela, in the skies so wide, Your music’s legacy won’t hide. You see the pain, the fight, the strife, And laugh, for you predicted life. In your laughter, we find our song, In the struggle, we march along. Your wisdom echoes, bright and clear, In every note we hold you near.
