About The Artist

Baran-Mickle has been a professional metalsmith for over 40 years.  Over that time he has moved through metal formats as a jeweler, silversmith and a sculptor, using hammers to form and fabricate the sheet metals. He has taught metals and published art criticism in national journals. He has exhibited in over 120 exhibitions across the US and several biennales in Europe.  He has also been awarded a Regional National Endowment for the Arts and a New York State Artist Fellowship (NYFA). Most recently he became an Bainbridge Island, WA, “Island Treasure” (2020) after being recognized for his 20 years of active volunteering on non-profit and art related boards. These included being founding trustee of both the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (an artisan center), and chairing the city’s and the county’s public art boards.
