Prickly Pear Cactus~Eye Candy

The prickly pear cactus is mostly green but at certain times of the year you will see colors of pink, yellow, orange and hints of purple. I was so taken by this that I just had to paint it. I wanted the viewer to feel what I felt when I first saw it. It's like a Party in the Desert! In my painting you can think they are balloons or jelly beans or just "eye candy". All the colors of the southwest on a backdrop of sandy rocks you see in Sedona Arizona. Size: 30 x 30 x .5 inches. Created in 2010. This painting won 2nd place in the Grand Opening Celebration with the Dott Art Gallery in VA. in 2010.
