Sobre el Artista
Karina Laru-Naú (née Szafran) was born in Wroclaw/
Poland. Growing up in the suburbs of a big city, she
learned to integrate the assorted cultural influences of her
ancestors within the small family sphere and then moved
on to gradually become an open-minded citizen of the
world. At the age of 18, after graduating high school, she
left Poland to begin Slavic studies in Salzburg.
She has lived in Austria (Salzburg/Vienna/Carinthia) since
1981, where beside variously earning a living, including as
interpreter for Russian, Polish and German, she has been
immersed in diverse art trainings in Austria, Germany and
Italy. Numerous travels, not only throughout Europe, but
also in North and South America, as well as Asia, form a
grand inspiration for her art.
Her studies at the „Freie Akademie der Kunst und
Philosophie“ in Klagenfurt/Carinthia have enriched her
artistic path and confirmed the validity of her choice to be
a freelance artist.
Caught in time and space, mortality and memory – the
human being is her focus. The human being, in all the
myriad thoughts and deeds, within the stillness and the
loudness of this world.
