Sobre el Artista
Igor Shulman is one of the most popular contemporary figurative artists. His works are worldwide famous. In his works one can perceive an influence of Edgar Degas. This is only an influence, however; the painter is not satisfied by just copying other’s art style. He is fond of photography, thus by observing his masterpieces one can perceive a great “photo”-influence. That means that his artworks are often painted as if they were photos. This mixture of styles — impressionism on one side and photographic angle of the pictures on the other — brings a great deal of uniqueness. Perhaps that could be one of the reasons why most of his works are being kept in museums and private collections all over the world.
Igor Shulman is not actually the person you might think we’re talking about. His actual name is Igor Andrianov. He was born in Russia, where he graduated from the Tver Art College named Venezianov. This occurred in 1984, after which he began participating in different regional and republic exhibitions.
In 1999 he moved to Prague where he works under the pseudonym Shulman.
