Christine Peterson was touted as a new kind of pioneer, when in 1979 she was the first Deaf Coed to have graduated from a welding program at San Diego's Educational Cultural Complex. She is the first deaf female welder to be employed in San Diego County, California. Christine worked as a High Pressure vessel welder specializing in TIG welding of Expansion Joints until injuring her back. Her older sisters stimulated her interest in art. She works in various mediums; oil, ink, watercolors, pastels, ceramic and welded sculpture. In her welded sculpture she works in aluminum and bronze using both the Oxy-Actylene and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes. Christine's work has been displayed in Seattle with the "No Boundaries" art exhibition, San Francisco in the Main Library, with the VSA arts network, at both East and West Deaf Expos, the North County Society of Fine Arts in Poway, Ca. and was displayed in the San Diego Art Institute. At last few years ago Cal Diego PVA art show she won 1 st and 3 rd place in Sculpture. My WebSite is
