Sobre el Artista
Stephanie Goddard, Artist
b. London, England, 1961
As an accomplished painter spanning over 30 years, with a catalogue of private and corporate collectors, I have collaborated on corporate installations, organised many art projects for schools and art groups and I have led fundraising art projects for charity events. I have exhibited in both joint and solo exhibitions since the year 2000.
I absolutely love colour and texture and it is at the core of all my work, whether a landscape, seascape, abstract piece, LoveHug or contemporary female face. I work in mixed media including cold wax and encaustic wax, oils, acrylics, inks and watercolour, incorporating many textures and glazes, collage, organic matter such as rose petals, mushroom spores, beach flotsam, leaves and the natural earth. I use bold colours and brave brushstrokes with paint spattering and drips, which give a contemporary and expressionist look to my work, sometimes bordering on the abstract, but I always try to reflect the beauty of the living world and the people in it. I enjoy to work in my studio, where you will find me on a daily basis having ‘conversations with colour’, or out on location in nature painting what surrounds me in my own individual way.
Artist Statement – ‘It is important to remember how beautiful our natural world is and I take my inspiration from everything I see around me, expressing this through the medium of paint. My work incorporates many textures and paint mixes including glazes, gold leaf and sometimes organic textures, I am totally inspired by the realities and wonders of nature. I see everything in bright vivid colour and paint with an expressionist element, sometimes verging on the abstract, making my work vibrant and exciting, culminating in a unique and unmistakable style. I often paint ‘en plein air’ and when I am painting, I aim to capture the feeling and the beauty that I find in nature by painting not only what I see, but also what I feel. Colours are like words to me’.
