Sobre el Artista

Biografia Italo Turri è nato ad Anagni il 13 Febbraio 1926 in via del Trivio, uno dei più caratteristici vicoli del centro storico. E’il terzogenito di Vincenzo Turri, calzolaio, e Caterina Baldassarri. Hanno avuto quattro figli, tre maschi e una femmina. Frequenta con profitto le cinque classi elementari, come si legge nel suo certificato di studio, al termine del secondo corso della scuola professionale (sezione ebanisteria) ad Anagni, finito nel 1940 viene data valutazione sufficiente (lodevole invece, il giudizio della condotta, il rispetto all’igiene, pulizia e cura della persona). Dal 15 settembre 1943 al giugno 1944 fa parte della formazione partigiana “Anagni” con la qualifica gerarchica “partigiano di gregario”, motivo per il quale viene arruolato nell’esercito, da dove viene congedato definitivamente il 22 Novembre del 1948. Due anni dopo si sposa e va a vivere a Santa Chiara dove nasceranno nel 1951 e nel 1953 le due figlie. Nel 1955 il matrimonio finisce ed Italo torna nella sua casa paterna di via del Trivio, insieme al fratello minore. Dopo un breve periodo di occupazione presso il Comune di Anagni come netturbino, si dedica completamente alla pittura, una passione coltivata da sempre. Disegna esclusivamente su materiali da scarto, sui quali realizza i suoi “cartoni” che quasi sempre regala. La sua produzione è molto vasta, così come la sua vena creativa, anche se per un riconoscimento ufficiale bisognerà attendere il 1993, quando il comune di Anagni e l’associazione Pro Loco organizza una mostra dei suoi lavori nella galleria comunale, dal 30 Maggio al 10 Giugno vengono esposte al pubblico 36 opere di Italo Turri e in quella occasione il critico d’Arte Lorenzo Ostuni conia per lui la definizione “ Il lunatico dell’innocenza”. Per l’immagine di Italo Turri si apre una nuova era: le sue opere ricevono attenzioni e apprezzamenti da più parti (un plauso arriva anche da Vittorio Sgarbi), la sua vita “on the road” viene rivalutata.
