GAMBASIN GIOVANNI OFRO, I SELL TO A PERSON OR COMPANY INTERESTED IN ACQUIRING MY COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS FROM ALL OF MY ARTISTIC CAREER WHICH IS NOW NEARING THE END, FOR INFORMATION: info@artegambasin.org GAMBASIN GIOVANNI Painter and Photographer, self-taught - surrealist, painter of the fantastic dream. This is how Giovanni talks about himself, in a brief informal interview, with his gaze lost on the line of the hills in front of the 18th century villa on the Asolo hills where he has his atelier (Treviso). "I was in search of Surrealism even before I met him, when I was 17, I thought a painting was like a page in a book, but I didn't want to write only one page, but several pages in the same painting. It was the moment in my life when I was trying (or deluding myself) to find within me a response to the great themes of life: birth, death, man's judgment on man, religion, the rigidity of life, thought, and, through the representation of the dream, I began to be Surrealist, when I did not yet know the existence of the Surrealist movement. At the age of twenty, while as a conscript, I was locked in a submarine, I happened to come across the back cover of a weekly magazine, where there was a painting by Salvador Dali "Giraffe in flames". At that sight I said to myself "this is what I want to propose in my work - these are the pages of the book I want to paint". Since then I have immersed myself in the knowledge of the history of the Surrealist movement and other movements that revolved around it: Dadà, Metaphysics, etc...". My research has lasted more than forty years in an attempt to "paint/imagine" the contrast between life and dream. Gambasin has exhibited with personal and collective exhibitions in various cities in Italy and abroad. He has exhibited in the following cities: Venice, Padua, Treviso, Milan, Asolo and other provincial realities. Abroad he has exhibited in Banja Luka, Pocitelj Bosnia, korcula, and other minor realities... He has participated in over 300 group exhibitions and painting competitions. In oil painting he uses the ancient technique of veiling in the representation of dreams, with light and transparent veils, while life is represented with strong and dark tones on rigid geometric structures. Gambasin always carries out preliminary studies in pencil and pastels: In a period of his artistic history he also experimented with the three-dimensional art of ceramics. In this last period he is dedicating himself to photography processing (DigitalArt). His works always maintain the perfection of the stroke and a fantastic/surreal meditative vein.
