Sharon Blair

Sobre el Artista

Sharon is a multi award winning mixed media artist. Her pieces are intuitive, inspired by imagination, emotion and mother nature. The result is a 'Contemporary Abstract' style that captures the ‘essence, spirit and feeling’ of a subject in a soft, organic and sometimes very colorful way. Experimentation; Sharon uses sophisticated mixed water media techniques and unusual materials to create rich vibrant textures and unique surfaces which transport her ideas into reality. Depth & Texture; Each of Sharon’s pieces is multi-layered with a combination of granulating washes of watercolor, ink pours, thick acrylic paints, splashes of charcoal and unusual paint reactions throughout. Acrylic mediums, gesso, synthetic fibers, and a variety of Japanese, wax and tissue papers are also used to imply texture and depth. Sharon also creates detailed linocuts, incorporating these graphic elements by printing them into her work. Evolution; Sharon’s work evolves during the extensive layering process. She will stand back at each stage and watch to see what emerges, letting the painting suggest a way forward. She is often kept in suspense till the very end. Interpretation; People see so many different things in Sharon’s abstract work. Faces, people dancing, a forest floor, the Titanic…all comments from the same piece. Whether standing back or exploring the detailed elements up close, your own interpretation is exactly and perfectly correct. To view Sharon’s work visit: www.sharonblair.com.au
