Frank De Decker

Sobre el Artista

Born in Ghent, Belgium, Frank was first inspired to put paint and pencil to paper by his art-loving mother when he was but a young lad of 10. As his natural talent developed, Frank found an affinity for drawing with charcoal and graphite; the raw materials emboldening him to amp up the contrast, drama, and emotion on the canvas. Frank went on to formalise his artistic education at St Luke’s School of Fine Arts (Sint Lucas Kunst Academie). Armed with charcoal, acrylic paint, a palette knife, and a hairdryer, he began to specialise in custom portraiture, creating countless distinctive collections inspired by international celebs, fashion, and pop culture icons. Digital trickery be damned, all Frank’s artworks are 100% hand painted, with no computer tinkering used at any stage in the process. At the height of the 90s, a bronzer Frank opened his own gallery in beach-bespeckled Tenerife. Today, he lives and works on the less sunny but equally serene Belgian coast where he continues to perfect his bold and colourful pop-art. Frank has gained a solid reputation with the larger Belgian public as a portraitist of celebrities, regularly appearing in the media with his work and celeb-encounters. His yearlong affiliation with Belgium’s champion team FC Bruges also earned him the unofficial title of house-artist for the club, resulting in many commissions for players and managers. Blessed to be living the career of his dreams, Frank has also made it his mission to share his passion and art expertise with aspiring artists. Frank continues to teach and champion a new generation of portraitists to capture the world on canvas in their own signature style at his much sought-after art academy in Blankenberge, Belgium.
