Sobre el Artista
Gusenga Patrick is a visual artist born in 1998 and based in Rwanda. The third born in a family of five, he was a blessing to the family for his ability to create artworks at home from a young age. His artworks, which included cartoons and characters from movies, drew the attention of many in the village. His parents soon enrolled him in the prestigious Nyundo Art School, where he majored in graphic art. He then went on to pursue a degree in digital media production and computer graphics, becoming a consultant in the field at a young age.
Humble and reserved, Gusenga Patrick expresses his ability through his art. He takes a critical view of social, political, and cultural issues, often referencing Rwandan history. His works explore the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art, and he thinks of them as unfinished inventories of fragments. He creates room in them as improvisational sites in which the constructed and readymade are used to question the making of the world through language and knowledge.
Gusenga Patrick finds inspiration from his desires for beauty and seduction, as well as from what surrounds him. He uses both computer (digital art) and painting (acrylic paint) to create his artworks. He has exhibited his works at Inshuti Art Center in Rwanda, and believes in the creativity of art, taking his art in two different ways: message and tangible expressing ideas. He signs his work with the name Gusenga Art.
