Sobre el Artista
I am a multi-media artist engaged in daily artistic practice. Steeped in the tradition of relational psychotherapy, my works are a navigation of contextual variables, in which I dialogue between content, medium(s), and methodology to create pieces that travel between loose layers of reality. Playing with the space that lies between figuration and abstraction my work is a balance between known form and that which is tenuous, ambiguous, and unclear. My style explores possibilities while grounding the viewer in sublte contexts that invite and encourage further exploration.
As a selftaught artist,I am dedicated to a long tradition of observation and study. From an early age I was interested forms and patterns, watching my mother paint with oils in our living room. My fascination with forms, patterns and color continued as I grew and I studied art both formally and informally from elementary school through college, minoring in art while earning a BA in elementary education and a MA in marriage and family therapy. In the past I've moved from working with art in therapy, and shifted to focusing on my own work as a primary profession.
Currently I work alongside my artist/writer husband, Nathan Filbert, in our shared studio, forming Ekphrastix Arts. Together we work in a practice of ekphrasis. Interested? Visit www.ekphrastixarts.com or www.hollysuzannefilbert.com
