Sobre el Artista
In 1981 I decided to pursue my goal of being a professional artist. Having returned to Australia after extensive travels in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, I studied Fine Art at Sydney’s City Art Institute where I was awarded a Bachelor of Visual Arts Degree and in 1986, a Postgraduate Diploma. Moving to North Queensland, I exhibited paintings at the Upstairs Gallery Cairns, the Artists Gallery in Yungaburra and in Townsville where I mounted my own exhibition under a corporate sponsorship.
In 1987 I was commissioned by the Sydney Waldorf Hotel to supply 18 works for their opening. My work has also hung in Sydney at the Watchouse Gallery and the Wharf Theatre Gallery. In 1993 I held my own exhibition of paintings depicting native wildlife with sponsorship from CRA's Blair Athol coal mine in Central Queensland. I also ran a series of successful regional workshops in painting and drawing and, after moving to Brisbane in 1996, was commissioned as artist in residence at Payne Road State School. In Brisbane, I exhibited my work at the Gilchrist Gallery, Art On The Park and Hangups Gallery.
After moving to Tamborine Mountain (Gold Coast) in 2011, I continue with the vibrant colour style which is has become a trademark of my canvasses and I am presently painting a series entitled “Harmonics”, depicting a fusion of ethic musicianship and fabric design. From my studio I also print high-quality reproductions from my body of work over three decades, as well as making hand-crafted jewellery. Recently I have exhibited my work with Hilltop Gallery (Gold Coast) and with Percolator Gallery (Brisbane) and I am also providing local art lessons in composition and colour technique for adult students.
