About The Photographer
Although getting his college degrees in mathematics, Stephen Bitel minored in art, developed his first roll of film at about the age of 7 and has been into photography ever since. Over the years he has done photographic work in the areas of advertising, portraiture, event recording , fashion photography, and photojournalism.
He has published in “Peterson’s Photographic”, “Modern Photography” and "B&W" Magazine, has won awards from the Long Island Institute of Photography, B&W+Color Magazine, B&W Magazine, The East End Arts Council, The Huntington Arts Council, The Art League of Long Island, My Studio, PhotoPlace Gallery, The Art Association of Oswego, The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Conservatory. and the Sufolk Center for the Holocaust, Human Understanding and Diversity.
Steve studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in NYC with John Loengard and Yale Joel, the photo editor of Life magazine at the time and a Life staff photographer respectively.
