Dorothea Buxton-Hyde

Staffordshire born Dorothea began painting at the age of four and developed her art painting on porcelain for Spode in 1958.

She became a professional artist in her own right in 1978 and, whilst living in North Wales, exhibited in Criccieth, Porthmadog, and Beddgelert.

In 1983 she was elected as a Member of the Fine Art Trade Guild following a successful exhibition at the London Art Gallery.

Dorothea launched her own publishing company Ambre Roche in 1989 and, with the help of her husband Philip, distributes her work throughout galleries in Great Britain, Europe, South Africa, Australia, Canada and the United States of America.

Starting with Landscape's subjects, Dorothea extended her artistic range to include: Wild life, Flora, Still-life, Abstract and Figure work.

In 1989 Dorothea had the honour of being presented to Princess Michael of Kent when her work was featured in an exhibition at Drapers Hall, London.

In 1993, Dorothea achieved Artist of the Year finalist and was nominated and included in the Who’s Who of Professionals.

Dorothea has three children, Lucy, Jeffrey and Keith and relaxes by making stained-glass windows, walking, spending time with her family, listening to music and watching ballet.
