Somsak Chaituch

About The Artist

Somsak was born in a small village in Northern-Thailand amidst an overwhelming nature and rich culture both filled with warm colours. As a child Somsak helped the neighbouring craftsmen with woodcarving for decoration of houses. At school appeared his talent for drawing with a sharp eye for details and character of beings. Today he works in his workshop with gallery in the Netherlands. Somsak Chaituch got a Bachelor at the Arts Academy Utrecht and became a Master of Fine Arts at the Dutch Art Institute of Twente University. Chaituch has had 4 solo exhibitions and participated at 18 group exhibitions in galleries and museums in France, Italy, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, UK and the USA. His works are found in many private collections. Somsak Chaituch received 14 national and international awards from academies and curators throughout Europe. Nowadays Somsak Chaituch paints in a very identical style in brushwork and colour composition. With his characteristically crossover identity between east and west and with his lyric between abstract and figurative, Somsak takes the observer in a dream to learn of the existences of life. The paintings of Somsak Chaituch are music for the eyes. Warm melodies and traditional rhythms blend in abstract expressionistic themes of nature that still refer to the warmth and colours of his origin.
