Swans of the city of Bruges, Belgium. Oil on canvas. 16 x 20 inches (50 x 60 cm) This is an original oil painting of a landscape scene of the city of Bruges. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. I was traveling there and it was interesting to watch swans colony resting in one of the many Bruges canals. The historic city center is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as the Venice of the North.
