About The Artist

Leith Ridley, South African-born, South African university graduate, citizen of France, former classical dancer, former film designer & decorator, Foley Artist, living in Bulgaria. Her styles and subjects are varied, portraits in oil and in acrylic, her techniques learned over the years with the influence of The Great Masters , as well as an original style of abstract landscape, a delicate and sometimes dramatic play between space and movement, transparence and texture, using either acrylic or oil, or both. ‘I want the viewer to translate what he sees, to be able to see into the painting and never tire of looking into it.’ At present her greatest inspiration comes from the nature around her in Bulgaria; she takes the essence of what she sees and feels and translates it into paint… She has been painting almost exclusively on commission or private sales until now, with little time for exhibitions. Fist exhibition in Ireland in 1982, Cork , mixed exhibition Then in France in 2006 - exposed in “La Galérie de la Porte Heureuse”. 2007- first solo Exhibition in Beaune, France -“Homage to the European Great Masters “ Exhibitions in Bulgaria :, 2013- IWC Charity, mixed exhibition 2016 - at the American Embassy In Sofia , mixed exhibition 2019 - Sequoia Events solo exhibition. 2019 - (a) CUBE Contemporary Art, solo exhibition “Momentum”
