About The Artist

Jen Fitzpatrick’s practice is rooted in shape & color language that looks at awareness. The visual prompts suggest the character of sensory experience. Fitzpatrick pursues the identity of objects. Color, form and material have a syntax, create a visual code, and her work uses these markers to address an awareness of I-am-self, avatars for the mother role. Her Mother Praxis uses transitional objects and spaces and the concept of the "good enough mother", as described by D.W. Winnicott. Her interest is in the mother left to devise her own child rearing practice and, without interference, produce a space for real-making and play as an interpretation of the world.
