About The Artist
ARTISTIC EVOLUTION
During the last fifteen years, I participated in thirty individual and collective art exhibitions. During that period, I sold more than 70 paintings and my work is now part of public and private collections in Brazil, the United States, France and Canada.
My deep interest for theatre has led me into the visual art world. I quickly made my way into visual arts while living in France. In France, I learned watercolour techniques, how to work with transparency and how to use the fluidity of colours. After studying and working watercolour for a few years, I felt the need to explore other means of expression.
In 2005, I participated in a mixed technique workshop that reminded me of the energy and body language experienced in my theatrical practice. This change toward abstraction appeared liberating to me because of its spiritual character: i.e. to work, standing in front of a big format watercolour paper, working with liquid acrylic, ink or pastel, pencil, felt, fabric and print on an elevated table. From this moment on, the act of creating textures and to obtain intense colours became very exciting.
With a little group of artists from my region, we organized live model workshops. This is how I introduced fictitious characters in my eccentric abstractions. Proportion and beauty are replaced by femininity that transpires and appears real; as well the emotion and the expectation attract attention. Nothing is really defined, one imagines, one guesses and one concludes.
My creative impulse is a combination of impressionism and expressionism. My work is semi-figurative; my characters appear through a strong gesture and vivid colours.
